Planning a Trip to Europe, where in Italy should I go. Venice or Florence? Which is better for culture and sight seeing, and which is more affordable? If anyone has been to either or both I'd love to hear about your experience.

Thanks

However if you really like step aerobics or leg exercises Venice going up and down over the canals will REALLY keep you moving!

I've only ever been to Florence (and already booked my next trip) so far as Venice hasn't appealed to me as much (although I'm hoping to go next year) but from what I've heard anyway, there's plenty more to see and do in Florence than in Venice.

Florence is the birth place of the Renaissance and so the Ufizzi Gallery is well worth a visit if you like art, the churches are amazing and walking along the Ponte Vecchio is a must! It quickly became my absolute favourite holiday destination, above Rome!

Venice can be a lot busier and you have to watch the time of the year you go as the water can stink in summer and you get floods in the winter!

Either way, both are expensive but I think you'd get more for your money in Florence
