Most definitely. I lost the majority of my weight with walking and healthy eating. Still use the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs on the cold or rainy days.

I started walking in February, at first I could only walk 1 lap. I build up my endurance and strength over about 2 months time and didn't lose a single pound. I visited my Dr. and he told me it wasn't possible to lose weight by walking alone so I had to rethink what I was doing and adjust my life and eating habits. I quit drinking soda and eating anything "white" (flour, pasta, rice, potatoes etc) then I started walking briskly for 45 mins 3 days a week and started eating healthier. I lost 32lbs in 2 months. :) Couldn't be happier with the decision I made.

I was a heavy 300lbs. and decided it was time for a change, I began walking approx. 8-10 kms per night and was able to lose 84lbs. in 5 months!!! sorry i didn't take before and afters, but walking does work very well and it's low impact, dedication is the key to success!!! keep at it, even if you think you're not losing...you are!!

Back in 2006 I hit my highest weight of 170 lbs. By the next year I had gone down to 150 by walking alone. It won't get the weight off as quickly as other routines, your body will plateau and get used to it pretty quickly, but it's an easy workout to add to (weights, whether free or ankle weights, you can add lunges in and get up to running and jogging, it's easy to mix things up with such a simple exercise). It's a good exercise in general, really good for your cardiovascular health. :) And calming! I also have walk at home dvds that I use when the weather's not so nice.
