I am on my 5th day of using MFP. I have lost 3 lbs, which I am happy about. I exercise about 30 min a day and have been under my calorie limit ( thus far). I want to lose about 35 more pounds. I'm just wondering the time frame for that happening. I tend to get impatient but I am determined to stick to it because I want to be healthier and I want to look good.

Congrats on the loss and just remember to stick with it. You did not gain it all over night and it will not all come off over night either. There is no time frame and you may hit a plateau. That is what is great about here is you get frustrated and people will help you get past it and refocused. Keep up the great work and you will get there.

    Hello! Welcome to MFP!

MFP is a really great resource to keep you focused and connect you with a wealth of fitness resources and like minded folks.

    1. Log your foods every day - don't skip days, or parts of your day. log everything!
    2. Analyze each day - see where it went good and where it went bad - too much fat? maybe too many carbs? over the calorie limit? Identify and plan how to correct it for tomorrow.
    3. Reach out to the community with questions or advice needs.
    4. Build a network of friends here!
    5. Above all, do not believe everything you read here. There is a lot of great advice, but also some misleading and hype type advice. Part of getting fit is educating yourself in aspects of health and fitness. Make sure any questionable advice is looked at with a scientific eye and look for facts, evidence, and most importantly real world proof.
    6. You are more than a number. Sometimes the scale may not say what you hoped - thats fine. weight loss is not a straight line declination. Its a bumpy line that drops over time. Don't let single day numbers get your focus away from term based results.
    7. Vary your exercises. Your body forms memories and can slow down how it burns fat and builds muscles. Keep it confused! Hit it hard with cardio styles. Build lean muscle to burn even more fat.
    8. and above all - take your photo now! You will want to look back and have a starting BEFORE picture to proudly display along with your series of PRESENT or CURRENT photos during your transformation and continued lifestyle of fitness.

I welcome you, and anyone else out there to add me as a friend. I have made fitness and health my passion and love the idea of folks joining me in my new lifestyle of being fit, healthy, and most importantly - HAPPY!.

I'm here to support and motivate!!! I find my own success comes easier when I help and fuel other folks success.

and remember - most folks care more about the quality of fuel they put in their lawn mowers than the fuel they put in their bodies. Don't be one of those people. Whole foods. Natural foods. Intelligent choices.

    Fit for life,

Everyone's body is different..so I dont think anyone can really answer that. I thought I would have been down to my goal weight 3 months ago ;) And..yet..I am still here...waiting it out ;)

Just try to be positive..slower weight loss..is actually better...take it from someone who has yo'yo'ed more than I want to admit! Take measurements..because the scale is NOTORIOUS for pissing us off...especially women.. we can fluctuate like crazy..

In the future..as well as now..please try to evaluate how much you are eating.. I am battling a very slow metabolism by eating so little for sooooo long... If you stop losing...dont start cutting more! More than likely..you need to ADD more calories..if you stall on your weight loss... (hopefully you wont..35 isnt a massive amount..lucky you!) :D

This advice isnt for everyone...and some will probably disagree..but try to eat your BMR. That is the minimum calories your body needs to live if you just layed in bed all day.... If you didnt edit your calories..MFP should have set you up anyways around that/ number.. I dont think 1200 calories a day is enough...it may work for awhile..then you will battle what I am going thru right now!

another tip.. 30 mins a day is great...but if you havent started already...strength train. There are tons of resources online..great books etc..... You do not need to be at your goal weight to train.. the more muscle you have..the more your body will be burning...even in a resting state. Cardio? You only burn that 30 mins or so you do...

Good luck! And treat every pound loss as a great achievement! :)
