My extra long day is causing me to eat too much!

I work at a bakery and I'm the "back-up" donut fryer, in other words on the regular guy's days off I fry the donuts. This obviously completely messes with my sleep schedule because I have to get up at midnight whereas I usually like to go to bed at that time. So on the days where I just finished his day off and don't have to be up at 12 AM the next day I stay up to get back into my regular schedule, giving me a 20-22 hour day. The downside is that because I'm awake all those extra hours I end up eating an extra meal because I am hungry even though I would normally sleep through and wake up to that hunger. It always feels horrible to look at my food diary and see how close I am to going over my calorie goal (or have gone over on some days.) I've thought about trying to just split up my calories but I don't see how without also getting hungrier faster which would also cause me to eat too much. It's so frustrating!

First I give you props for working at a bakery.
I would eat that place out of house and home!
But try some flavored water or if you have "Mio" the best things ever.
You put a bit of Mio in your water no cals, sugars etc! And also gives you a nice energy boost compared to all other water flavoring.
I'm bad and i drink Diet Dr. Pepper... no matter what others say.
But that is my two cents.0 -
Thanks lol after a while the food (mostly) stops looking so tempting...except cookie dough. Thanks for the flavored water/Mio advice! Definitely trying that tonight0

Sleep deprivation is brutal when it comes to appetite. The best way I found to deal with it is to only eat very calorically sparse foods (~1 calorie/gram or less). It is damn near impossible to eat more than 1800 calories in a 24 hour period that way, and you have the added benefit of eating healthier as well. Lean chicken, turkey, brown rice, quinoa, fruits, veggies all fair game. Caloric density is key concept that many people are unaware of... hope that helps
Props for having self-control working in a bakery... I don't think I could do it!0
