Hi all,
I'm quite new to MFP and while I'm grateful for ALL help and support I can get, I've not found the recipe section to be a lot of use to me as it's full of (great-sounding!) American contributions, and the truth is half the ingredients don't exist or are very hard to find in the UK!
I can't be the only person on here that would benefit from some inspiration from somewhere east of New York?!
I'm hoping this thread can grow into something useful where we can can share our food ideas as well as make a few friends nearer home.

I'm in the UK and use the recipes all the time! I can get most of it between tesco and waitrose, or make minor adjustments. Just get more inventive :P0

Yep this, plenty of UK people on here willing to help :-)
Also a lot of the recipes can be quite easily adapted to use UK ingredients - I've used a few of them myself, you just have to think up alternatives.
The thing thats the biggest pain for me is the cup measurements...I spend just as long googling conversion rates as I do actually cooking! I'm now even contemplating getting a set of American measuring cups!! xx0 -

All very good UK recipe websites, where you can search for recipes by ingredient. The BBC Good food website in particular is good as it shows nutritional info per serving (cals, carbs etc).0 -
Great idea for a thread! I've been adjusting those posted by fitting in UK ingredients, doesn't always work though! lol
I also bought some of those American 'cups' but find i'm still having to weigh the food afterwards to put it into my recipe builder as the calories don't add up the same.0 -
Cups are a completely useless and lazy method of measuring. I do have them though but I always weigh everything after I've 'measured them'. Weighing is the only accurate way to go0
