FWIW...........the pic over there is of my Lil Diva.........Killer...
Im not doing real good posting here. I just had a big long post and it disappeared. Lemme try again.
The thing I need to know is this.........is it too late to even bother losing the weight? What I mean is at my age.....54 (OUCH!!! That hurt) I sometimes fear it just wont matter.
About 10 years ago I lost over 100 pounds by watching what I ate and walking..........8 miles a night. OMG I loved it. Then I started training to do a 5k run/walk. In the interim..........I got busted up in a pickup truck (me) versus semi truck accident. It left me with a fractured neck and more pain that Id have thought possible. Add that to the 28 prior surgeries, all the titanium joints, pins, plates an screws and I was and am a walking mass of pain. It ended much of the exercise / walking I had been doing. It took forever to recover from the neck issues alone.
I am diabetic and it's always been very well controlled until the last 6 months or so. Thinking I had the upper hand and being cocky was my downfall. It hit with a ton of bricks 3 weeks ago. I landed in the hospital with a raging staff AND strep infection that caused a full blown systemic bacterial infection for a full week. I had more anti-biotics and IVs that even I though was possible. Indirectly it gave me the kick start I needed to get on this weight loss train. Ive since lost just over 20 pounds and already can see and feel it. It helps when others noticed at work yesterday.
I AM DETERMINED this time......more so than ever because if I can feel the difference with just a 20 pound loss.......I KNOW how much better I'll feel with 50 or 100 etc. I just get troubled sometimes thinking that at my age its just too late. Im determined to track what Im eating and I keep a good log of my blood sugars and how the two correlate.
I have a doctor thats a bit of a PIA but he's on board---sorta. Obviously;y Im doing this with his supervision. Hes all for me losing the weight but doesnt appear to be a very supportive type person. When ya ask him a question he goes off on such a tangent that by the time he's answered you, you've forgotten the question and just want the pain to end.
Anyway.....thanks for "listening". I would ask that if you cant be supportive or even somewhat friendly, please just dont respond.

OMG what you've been thru!
And given your post - the answer is - NO, IT"s NOT TOO LATE, and it's worth it to do it!!!!
54?! Since when is 54 considered too old to give a damn?! Seriously, you have some living left to do, and obviously you realize that unless you do something NOW, you ain't gonna get to do it the way you want to, if at all :frown:
YOU CAN DO THIS.
You need to!
And doctor be damned - he works for YOU - you can get all the support you need here and from friends and family, and as long as he does his job and watches over your medical needs, that's all you need him for!
Keep at it - you're on your way, and this time it's for LIFE (literally!!!)
