Hello fellow MFP'ers and Good Morning
Has anyone ever heard of a glucose levels increasing while you exercise while you are still overweight and while you are actively losing (during a weight loss stage) and then leveling back out when you get a certain weight? Long story short.. I ate very badly and was inactive for a long time and my blood glucose levels have always been normal, however in the last 4 months they have spiked to diabetic levels with no explanation as to why... I have changed my eating habits, lost about 20 lbs, and started some new migraine meds (topamax and elavil).. I am stumped, so is the dietician I consulted (she viewed my diary) and so is my personal trainer.. they all agree I could cut more carbs which is true and I agree too however I am very frightened and do not want to be a diabetic. Any advice would be great.
Thanks

so the glucose levels went from ...... to ...... and the change happened about 4 months ago ? What was the difference in eating / exercise before / after the change in glucose. Did the medicines coincide with the change, precede it or follow it ?
In general your insulin sensitivity and hence blood glucose levels will improve with weight loss.
"Both elevation and lowering of blood sugar levels have been reported with the use of some tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs)." - Elavil - discuss with your Doctor.
Topamax seems to help with diabetes - http://diabetes.webmd.com/news/20030616/epilepsy-drug-topamax-targets-diabetes0 -

glucose went from 95 and less to 110 and above (daily ) and I went from eating fast food and packaged meals to homecooked and healthier choices... which should have dropped it. I went from exercising 2 times a week to 5 times a week medications started at the same time as these changes did (about 2/2012)0
