Stuck in a rut! Tips on how to shed the last 10 lbs

I'm stuck in a rut!! The scale has not moved in the past 3 weeks. I'm 10 lbs away from reaching my weight goal and it seems like it's never going to happen. I eat the suggested 1200 calories a day (I don't eat back what I burned in calories) and workout 4-5 times a week. I know muscle weighs more than fat but the scale has to move at some point- right? I would love to hear some tips on how you managed to lose those last 10 lbs of your weight loss journey.

Without knowing your exact diet and exercise plan I would suggest trying HIIT when you are doing your cardio. Also try to mix up your training routine. You need to shock your body into losing those last 10.

It sounds like you've hit a bit of a plateau. This can be really frustrating... I'm going through it myself right now. Here are a few things I've tried myself in the past (with success) and am currently working on doing again:
    - Eat often. We want to keep our metabolism going at high speed and eating every 2.5-3 hours will help keep everything going at top speed
    - If you indulge in a cheat meal or day cut them out... at least until things get going again.
    - Finally... if you aren't doing this already, start tracking your progress by taking body measurements rather than just going by the scale. The scale can be deceiving. But how your clothes fit or the measure tape will be most accurate. While doing P90X I didn't lose any weight, but continued to lose inches. Had I not been taking progress this way I most certainly would have become frustrated and might have thrown in the towel early.

Try to be patient. That weight will come off. If couldn't hurt to try an new exercise just to mix things up and help you feel excited or refreshed to continue on your journey.
    Best wishes!

Are you a runner? For me running has been the key in pushing through plateaus.
  • I would eat back at least 50% of your exercise calories. It is doubtful that you are getting enough food the days you exercise, which can inhibit weight loss at the end of the journey.
