Eat more. It's really that simple.
Although depending on how long you've been eating like this, you may gain a few pounds. You may want to consider gradually increasing your calories to maintain. Then stay @ maintenance levels for at least a month.
Also, instead of drinking "Slim Fast" - try incorporating fresh fruit/veggies/etc... into your diet.
I was notorious for under-nourishing my body and then putting in these insane workouts. It took several months (eating @ maintenance) for me to see any progress on the scale. I am now seeing a slow decline (which is fine with me!), but it did take a while to "reset" my system from under-eating.
If you've been eating at the low levels that you have in your food journal, I would also suggest calling the National Eating Disorder hotline.0 -
Hi Meredith, I checked back over your diary for a couple of weeks, hope you don`t mind?
You seem to eat very low in cals a lot of the days?
This won`t help you ;-(
What works for me is keeping within the MFP goals and at least eating back most of my exercise calories.
Before you give up, maybe try to get with the MFP program a little more and give it some more time?
do not be frightened to eat, it is just eating a little more healthily we all want to try to reach our goal weight, but we have to do it right!
Totally off topic, but.....Seriously, nicest reply ever! Everyone on here is so opinionated and says things in such a condesending and overbearing way.... You response was really nice.
Thanks Whitney, for your comment. I hope Meredith takes time to move on with her plan.
We all are quick to jump on people (I am sure I have done it too) but sometimes when people are asking for help they need a little *hug*0 -
I'm on the wagon you need to eat more. I know you think its counter productive but your body quickly adapts to less calories. Add fruits and veggies to your diet and fresh lean meats. Fresh whole foods and you cant go wrong. You have great committment but its a little misguided. With that same committment and the right food your weight will clean up. I eat over 2000 calories a day and am losing weight - i'm not in a rush and its comfortable for me. If you eat food guidelines of 5 or more servings of fruit and veg a day you wont be hungry (and dont let yourself go hungry! be good to yourself)- will have lots of energy and will achieve your goals. From this angle you dont seem like you have far to go. Keep the faith - just refocus a little. Wish i had your committment to this as it cant be so productive to you if redirected to whole foods and health.0

Ok I'm also on the eat more bandwagon, 500-600 calories a day is suitable for a baby. Lots of fresh fruit and veggies will help to give you extra energy to exercise and feel more positive to carry on.
I know I'm the grumpiest person in the world when I'm hungry which means that exercise is the last thing I feel like doing. When you eat too little you go into starvation mode and won't burn any fat as your body is desperately trying to survive.
Please don't get disheartened I'm sure if you meet your daily calorie goal you'll start to lose weight and feel happier simply because you aren't hungry all the time xx0 -
I have nto checked your good diary but if you are eating that little, yet you need to eat more.
That said, are you lifting weights? I notice you didn't say you were.
My weight stayed the same for about 30 days and I was super discouraged but kept at it. I decided to add some pretty serious weight lifting to my workouts at the gym and the weight has been peeling off!!! The first week I lost 3 lbs, then it kept going from there. The least amount I'be lost in one week since starting to lift weights was 1.2 lbs during my time of the month.
LIft those weight and not girly ones either!!!0 -
small gains while actually doing the right things is natural. swell and shrink, swell and shrink.0

In line with other suggestions is to up to at least 1200 calories a day. What does MFP's calculator say you should have? If you like, double check with some other online calculators and see what they say. Either way, 1200 is the minimum recommended for women simply because being consistantly under that makes it much, much harder for your body to get the nutrition it needs. And no, I'm not talking about 'starvation mode', which is a myth. Your body will still lose weight on much lower calories, but it will cause a huge host of health problems aside from malnutrition.
As for logging, make sure you're logging EVERYTHING. Even the olive oil. You may be missing some other things that will add up to more than you think when you actually weigh and log it.0 -
