The forum guidelines include this item:
15. Divisive Topics Are Better Suited For Groups, Not the Main Forums
Divisive topics, particularly those that seek input from or are relevant only to a select group of users, are better placed within an appropriate Group rather than the Main Forums. For example, topics relevant to only one religion should not be placed on the main forums but rather within a group related to that religion. We reserve the right to move any topic to a relevant public Group which interested members may join if they wish to continue to participate.

I am not gay but I am a male who supports equal rights. Is your questionnaire limited to homosexual men and women only?

Nope its open to anyone.... I would appreciate all views Its an important subject to me and I am disappointed in the current views on the culture. My best friends are homosexuals.
Just thought I would correct it I know I am touching a line that is sensitive but that is the point of my presentation and I am more than willing to fight for the justification to make it more publicized and to make my classmates aware. The choices were single mothers, generation x, college students. ... I would rather do my presentation on how hard it is for my best friends to live in a world that doesn't accept them. As well as a world that on a daily basis makes them feel small by doing what Chick-Fil-A did, this isnt the first time they will be Nationally discriminated and it wont be the last. That is the purpose of my paper to show the hardships.0 -
End well this will not0
-
It is not meant to put anyone on the spot just getting different views for a research paper I am not forcing anyone to state opinion it is an opportunity.0
-
Why not post it in the LGBT group???0

There is a group? Where do I find it?0 -

Why didnt you start with your best friends first??
and I hate to say it, but you didnt word your OP right. Some might not like it.....0 -
I don't know why people are suggesting that this will not end well. There is nothing different with this question than the several posts a day to vote for a baby on Facebook [here's a hint: Every baby is exactly the same and the ones with the money to doll him or her up will win].
There is no politics being talked yet [although both the original poster and myself stated our stances]. I don't see why something like this could not be helpful for this young lady to work on her project, even if it will have a random sample and probably isn't the best environment for researching.

I have, my closest friends are giving their insight however they don't live all over the country. If you don't want to be apart of it then don't but I do not know what OP means.0 -

Thank you, the random sample is part of the basis of my paper, utilizing contrast between age groups, males and females and different societies. I have already found someone in a different state that has a completely different view than that of my closest friend. Just like any culture you or I we all have our views and that is the purpose of this.0 -

I like what you're trying to do, but just an FYI: A lot of LGBTQ people take issue with being referred to using the word "homosexual", due to the negative connotation given to the word by some ultra-conservative personalities.
I'm currently married to a man, but have been in 3 long term relationships with women, one of which we affirmed in our church with a "commitment ceremony". I'd be happy to help with your project!0 -
perhaps you should share the questions...??0

I have to do a paper on homosexual culture.
I'm straight. But if I were you I'd consider a change in language here. The phrase "homosexual culture", seems a little strange to me. It implies a stereotype. Homosexuals come from all backgrounds and cultures, they just just are attracted to members of the same sex.0 -
perhaps you should share the questions...??
For all:
1. What held him back from coming out sooner and how did he feel others would react to the news? How did others react?
2. Describe several typical stereotypes associated with being gay and why or why they are not accurate.
3. What is the biggest hardship you face today? Dating? Work environment? Everyday life?
4. How do you feel about a restaurant chain like Chick-Fil-A coming out and denouncing gay rights and gay marriage?
5. How did mainstream society view you and how has this changed over the years?
6. If there was something you would want mainstream society to understand better about you, what would it be?
7. Does religion play a factor in your hardship or life?
8. If you could change one thing to make life better for you what would it be?
9. How has his life improved by being out? Have you been accepted?
10. Have you lost any close relationships due to coming out?0 -
ohhhhhhhhh man.:noway:0

Moxie thank you, I apologize if that is not a positive word. That is something I would not know. I apologize to all who take it negatively.0 -
Not gay but am a heterosexual Ally who was an intern for my university's LGBT resource center. Basically, Chik-Fil-A has the right to whatever opinion they want just we have the right to disagree and boycott them for views that we may consider bigoted and discriminatory.
The wording is a bit weird. You could say you're doing a paper on how homosexuality impacts our society.0 -
Thank you for your input. I personally think in today's society everyone should be accepted regardless of beliefs however that is a naive statement. I do appreciate the rewording. I am trying to get as many answers as possible and quickly typed this up.0

Or just different forms of sexuality that are not the "norm." Psychology and sociology majors, as well as those who do not identify as only homosexual, will be all over you if you only include "homosexuality."
ETA: and for the record, I'm not a heterosexual ally... at least my girlfriend doesn't think so lol
Also, I always find it amusing that I've heard so many stories of people who actually work at Chick-Fil-A not identifying as heterosexual. Sticking it to the man? Maybe.0 -
I'll answer your questions. Where do I email it to?0
-
Just PM me and I will copy it off thanks to those who are not taking it negatively.0

Have you thought about creating a survey link? People may be more inclined to answer if it is done in true anonymity. Surveymonkey is a great tool for that and free. It will create a weblink to share with people to access the survey.0

Sunny, see my PM.0

5. How does he feel about the Chik-Fil-A situation?
POLITICS, GET OFF MY CHICKEN
Seriously though, that one made me laugh really hard. ♥0 -

My paper is a point of view paper not compare/contrast.0 -

I personally will not support a conglomerate that is stuck in a close minded point of view especially when some of their workers could be gay. It is truly saddening that we live in a world that still discriminates.0
