Eating around exercise

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice/ideas on what to eat before and after exercise. The exercise class I like to go to is at 7:30 in the evening and I don't get home from work until after 6. Things like a banana are fine but what about after its usually close to 9 when I get home absolutely starving and hate eating big late at night. I find I tend to end up eating 2 highly calorific snacks and defeats the purpose of exercise to lose weight!!
