On the days you know you're going, put a sandwich bag with a whole wheat bun or bread in your purse. Order your grilled chicken without condiments (other than veggies, of course), slap the guts into your your good bread, and toss that nasty white stuff away. It's better for you and more tasty and filling, so you won't need to order those icky old fries either.

leave the fast food alone- and if you get the chicken don't get the fries and leave the sweet tea alone the calories are ridiculously high and not worth it (I love sweet tea but cut it out) Drink water.

A sandwich alone is like 300-500 calories at a fast food place you can get frozen dinners or meals that are better and less calories.

if you must buy out get better food get a 6 inch from subway get a salad from a deli- there really is no excuse for HAVING to get fast food.

I live a crazy busy hectic life (I love it) pack lunch, use a crock pot for dinner many options. plus you will save money- You can make sweet tea at your house using Splenda and it will taste good so I am told. I just drink water constantly (I pee like a pregnant person lol)

In addition to the other post. I would do away with the bread all together if you must have the fries. Choose between the fries or the sweet tea. Throwing away the bread and either having the fries or tea should cut the meal in half. Or have the salad instead.

Skip McDonalds and go to Chic fil a or subway or take a greek yogurt or apple or peanut butter sandwich with you.

My past fast food menu looked like

oatmeal and strawberries or boiled eggs and grapefruit.

    lunch Wendy's

    dinner salmon and asparagus
  • Just take it one day at a time and do things to keep yourself busy to take your mind off of it. I know that cravings can be hard but it is all part of the struggle and you can beat this!!
  • You can also order the side salad and 6 nuggets on the days that you just want something bad. This helped me or just get the fries and bring your own healthy sandwich... each little step helps. Like today I am so tired but I am dragging my butt in the gym because I had too much rice during lunch today...LOL

I would plan ahead and pack a lunch. Waking up 15 minutes earlier to make yourself a delicious salad (I love spinach salad with slice strawberries and sliced green apple, red peppers, mushrooms, cucumber, and annies lite raspberry vinaigrette with some feta cheese.. sooo unworldly good, you could even throw grilled chicken on there if you would like, you can grill up a whole bunch at the beginning of the week so its already made and all you have to do is toss it on) or a delicious sandwich (spicy three pepper hummus, pepper jack or mild cheddar, tomato cucumber on whole wheat is my absolute fav! so yummy!) You'll also have more calories to spend on healthy snacks such as 2tbsp peanut butter on celery sticks, carrot sticks, crackers with hummus, almonds, rice cakes, granola bars, fruit like bananas berries, apples etc.

    Time for some tough love....

You cannot go to McD's, especially not multiple times per week. It is not good for you or your kids, and I know you know this, but sometimes it helps to just hear it. Making a life change like this is really tough, and it involves some forethought. I used to eat things like boxed mac and cheese and fast food because it was cheap and quick. Now I find that if I pick a day during the weekend when I have more free time, I can cook up a bunch of meals and freeze them for later. That way I'm not all running around to eat something healthy. You can start small by just cooking up some chicken breast one day and pairing it with veggies and rice throughout the week, and you can build from there. You can do this!! All it takes is one decision to take the time for you...for your health..and for your family's! :flowerforyou:

Good luck and one day at a time! :drinker:

I work and commute so my son and I leave home at 6:30 am and we sometimes don't get home until 6:30 pm by the time I pick him up. If you add in my gym time 5 days a week and his after school activities, McDonald's starts to look REALLY good on the way home. What works for me is to never let myself get that hungry. When I know we won't be home early, I have all kinds snacks to buy me some time (and willpower when passing many, many fast food restaurants) until I can get home and can eat something decent. For snacks, buy something healthy, but something that you know you will eat (if I have a choice between raw cauliflower and Chic-fil-a guess which one will win every time LoL:laugh: ) I love fresh pineapple, or grapefruit, or apples with peanut butter. And my son really likes popcorn so we pop a bag in the morning on the way out.

I agree with the previous posts. You just gotta ditch the sweet tea :grumble: . Sweet drinks (sweet tea, soda, even Gatorade) are murder on any diet. Water really helps with the feeling of fullness (of course your stomach knows there's no food in there, but drinking water before, during, and after eating really does help me eat less!)

Personally, I'm a McDonalds fry fanatic too but I get a small instead to knock the edge off

So these are some of the things that have been working for me on my journey. Keep up the hard work. It so pays off when you reach a goal or a milestone. I wish you much success! Good luck! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
