Hi,
Long time reader, first time writer...
A friend's wife had a car accident which resulted in nerve damage to her left knee. She is currently doing PT and recently had additional surgery to remove scar tissue which has left the knee painful to bend repetitively. This makes most traditional cardio workouts too painful to perform (even swimming). Does anyone have any suggestions on how she can do home or gym-based cardio?

Her PT should have some suggestions, but if she has access to a pool, swimming with a pull buoy (no use of legs), as well as simply walking up and down a pool. Also, if she has access, an arm ergometer (basically pedalling with your arms, not your legs), can be great cardio. Punching while in a seated position.0
