How do I determine my max heart rate?

Is it as simple as getting on a stationary bike and giving it my all for 20 minutes while keeping track of my heart rate?

Do an 8-ball of blow in one hour. If you survive, that is your max heart rate.

There are formulas to calculate it, there are ways to determine estimates. Pretty much if you google it you'll find different ways. Your heart rate will differ depending on the sport. The most accurate way to determine it would probably be to do a proper test with a sports doctor...

That is the thing, I found multiples.

I am tempted to do the 20 minutes on the bicycle going all out. Try to get my an average number and call it good to go.
