Fill in the blanks: If I knew then what I know now regarding weight loss, I......
Mine would read: If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have allowed my midsection to get so out of control in the last 3 yrs or for junk/processed food to pass my lips over the last 15 yrs...cz reversing the damage is trying hard work.
I am having one of those frustrating moments, stuck at a plateau

...not have DQ blizzards daily when I was pregnant with my first. 1400 cals EACH, omg. No wonder I gained 60 lbs!0
-
....not have stressed out so much about body image.0

OMG 1400 casl each! That's crazy...I find that MFP helps me shed some light into what I am putting in my mouth and makes me think twice.
My first eye opening moment was when I was out dining the first time and I entered my food. My entire dinner was more than my daily caloric allowance!! Needless to say, I ate half of what I ordered and passed up on the drinks!
Another one I have would be, to eat more proteins and observe the ratio of 40/30/30 for carbs, proteins and fat respectively.0 -
I would have started SOONER. Just needed to get it through my head that I did not gain weight overnight, so I would not lose it overnight!0

Never stopped lifting weights.0

when I was pregnant with my first, I was addicted to Hagen Daz0
-
writing down what I put in my mouth - being honest about the portion sizes that I was eating and pouring onto my butt0
-
I would paid better attention to what went into my mouth. finding it hard to eat enough to make 1200 calories a day, before I would eat 1200 calories or more per meal. We shall PERSEVERE0

.....n't trust anything that focusses on calories in/out over all else.
.....n't trust anything that involves a Food Pyramid or a MyPlate for nutritonal guidance.
.....n't get fat.0 -
I would have started lifting weights sooner and eating more whole foods (less "diet food").0
-
.....have never taken a desk job.0
-
would have never started drinking energy drinks and eating out all the time........0
-
Would have never took a sip of soda!!0

I would have added strength training to my exercise regime when I was losing my weight in 1987 and I woulda started eating cleaner then! Oh wait, we had NONE of that info available to us in 1987 lol. But still...0

But you know it now! So many ppl miss the point but you got it girl!0 -
I would eat breakfast every morning... even if it was a handfull of granola or nuts.
I'm pretty sure my downfall is never having eaten breakfast since I became a teenager.0 -
I would have thought more about my future and how it would affect my health0

Started lifting weights 15 years ago.0

...n't have given up that internship at Disney World.... bet I wouldn't have been stuck at a desk like I was in my early 20s
....have paid attention to how beautiful my body was before I got up to 320+ lbs. I think I used to have pretty legs.
....have kept my body moving everyday in some way. I used to walk so much... now, it's all car-car-car0 -
... would have been an Olympic Gold medalist.0

Not fallen under the spell of 59 cent cheeseburger days at McDonalds..0
-
have not drank sweet tea or ate so much queso...or drank margaritas that were not sugar free...oh so many things!0
-
I would have never tried all of those starvation/low calorie diets in the past!0
-
not have gone to McDonalds everyday and sit in my *kitten* and do nothing all day....0
-
If I knew then what I know now I would have not bought my car and kept walking everywhere.0
-
I would not have sneezed with my mouth full of spaghetti. :noway:0

I did KNOW then, but I could not EXECUTE...couldn't close the deal. Emotionally I was not ready to "give up" food. I wrote out My Wellness Plan over 15 years ago, still got the notes and calorie and carb counter, still remember the gym memberships NEVER used, still remember the stationary bikes, treadmills, weights, bought and given to Goodwill. My EQ has grown and I can DO a whole lot of things NOW that I could not then even though I KNEW what I know NOW. You'd be surprised how LITTLE KNOWLEDGE plays in our Lives, Spiritual, Emotional, Psychological and Social factors play way more of a role in our Lives than Knowledge.0

I would not change a thing because I have learned so many things about myself and my body. I wouldn't want to skip over that learning phase becasue I think the pain and tears were a vital part in making sure I stick with this as a lifestyle. I am stronger, healthier and smarter because of all of the mistakes I made along the way and even with all those mistakes I still made it and that gives me the strength and confidence to keep working my butt off every day! I also appreciate where I am a whole lot more!
I think the only thing I would like to say to myself THEN is to be patient...it WILL happen!0 -
...have cared enough about myself to pay attention to what I was doing to my body.0

I would have pestered my doctors more as a teenager, gotten more tests and not taken "its nothing to worry about" for an answer. Having that extra 20 years to deal with a probable PCOS diagnosis would have been great. But, at least now I know, right?
I would have stopped eating the amount of carbs once I got a desk job that I had been eating while at my very physical jobs before, during and after college.
I would have learned more about web programming languages and come up with a site like this! :bigsmile:0
