I need advice on what protein bars to eat. I tried the Slimfast milk chocolate peanut bar and it was incredibly gross. BUT the Luna chocolate mint bar is really good.

Any suggestions?

I tend to like chocolate, mint, and peanut butter more than granola and berries.

Thanks :flowerforyou:

    I haven't found a Luna bar that I haven't liked.
  • I buy the simply bars.
They're Canadian, so I'm not sure where you are, but with 140 calories and 16 grams of protein you can't go wrong.

They're also all natural and vegan.

Thanks! I don't think they have them here in Texas, but I'll definitely try more Luna bars!

The protein bars that I buy are "PURE PROTEIN" - CHEWY CHOCOLATE CHIP.
I think they are great. I buy them often. I get them at Wal-Mart in the section where
the other protein bars and shakes over by the Slim-Fast.

Try making your own. There are some good recipes floating around various bodybuilding forums online.

Not to sound like a jerk, but most of the store-bought varieties (even the supposed "low carb" varieties) are just glorified, sugar-laden candy bars.

You are right on with the store-bought! HFCS and all kinds of dextrose etc.

Another vote for "Pure Protein" but I like the chocolate peanut butter ones! I buy them at Target.

I do like Zone bars and Balance bars, but they have alot of sugar for some people. When I want one with fewer calories I like South Beach Living high protein cereal bars. They only have 140 calories and 15 carbs and 10 protein.
  • I highly recommend the Clif brand Mojo bars - peanut butter pretzel and mountain mix (which has chocolate chips) are my favorite flavors. They are 180-200 calories and 8-10 grams of protein each. I also like the regular Clif bars in chocolate chip peanut crunch and oatmeal raisin walnut. The are a little higher in calories (250 or so). I'm a total chocolate freak, and I still think the oatmeal raisin is one of the best cause the texture is so good. All the Clif and Luna products are free of high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils too.
