Still don't fit into some stores shirts. Frustating.

You know, just when I am feeling pretty good about myself, I walk into a store in the mall only to find the XL doesn't fit. Seriously  .
My bottom half is a SMALL in the exact same store, yet they can't make a top to fit me. Grr.

Anyways, any other ladies have this issue? I know I still have some body fat to be lost and I carry it all on my upper half but at this point if I will ever fit into some stores.

Yes, this can be very frustrating. I still have that problem with clothes. I definitely enjoy clothes shopping much more than I ever did before now that I have lost pretty much everything I wanted to lose, but no 2 stores or sizes are alike. I can never go in and just pick something out and take it to the register. I have to try EVERYTHING on. (shirts/top, pants/jeans/shorts, tank-tops, bras, swimsuits, etc)

I bought some new tank-tops recently and one size fit better in a large, so I got that. Another style (same store, like 2 racks away) it fit perfectly in a medium. Yet a while back, an entirely different store I bought 2 shirts in small. Go figure!

Same with pants. The sizing can be all over the place.

That happens with me also, XL in store in the mall is a bit to small. My bottom half is small, wear a 29" waist and that store starts at 32". Its actually hard finding jeans anywhere, sucks being different sizes lol

Oh its good to not be alone! Most of my friends are pear shaped. Once when I complained about this I heard back " oh poor you with the big boobs and tiny waist, life must be tough". Seriously , NOT even the issue, its how wide my rib cage is, and the back fat still holding on for dear life. Glad to know I am not the only one.

I've lost 24 lbs so far.. still a Large or XL in young ladies' shirts.
I don' think I'll ever be a smaller size. All my friends are Medium or so, but they also don't have quarterback shoulders like I do ...

Sometimes I "think" . . . these clothes must be made for models. Who is this perfect? Not I! Right there with ya.

sizing in shops is sooo frustrating as it varies a LOT, you're just going to have to try different sizes on until you find your size, sorry!but as long as you look great in them don't worry about whatever size..just take a few different sizes into the fitting rooms :)

I'm right there with ya! I tried on a dress in size 12 that was tighter than the size 8 and they were in the same store, same style just different name brands! I also have a wide rib cage, just don't have the boobs to go with it!

Even when I was at a healthy weight for my height I sometimes had this problem. Namely because I'm short/petite but I have broad shoulders for a chick. My aunt, with a similar build, calls them line-backer shoulders. I run into it the most with fitted and tailored tops--always tight across the back and shoulders, but the darting for the chest is off if I would try to go up a size.

It's probably why I've never owned very many fitted button up shirts and why I do have a lot of sleeveless stuff.

    Same here...
    L is not L everywhere.
Sometimes I still need XL, sometimes L and sometimes M
At home I take my scissors and remove all the numbers and letters... so I have just clothes which are perfect for me. No matter which size it was...

And I 'm sure, they make the clothes smaller... L was much bigger, when I was younger.
Now a days it could happen, that L is fine for my daughter, and she normally wears XS.

Try not to get too caught up on the size. Go to various places, try stuff on, and find out what fits best on your body. I learned that lesson a long time ago, because my upper and lower body are not the same size. I'm far from overweight, as a competitive figure athlete, and even at my leanest right before a competition, I usually find myself in a size large top but a size 0 or 2 bottoms (I'm 5'10"). I don't even attempt dress/tailored shirts anymore because I know they won't fit properly in the waist, and I stick to flowy blouses/sweaters for work. For dresses, I try to stick with knit materials or wrap dresses.

Definitely don't let this discourage your weight loss journey though. I'd much rather have this problem than still be in a size 20 like I was 10 years ago.

This is great advice :), I totally agree. Its not that I care about the "size' as in small medium large, I won't ever be a small or likely medium *in most stores anyways* up top and thats totally cool, Its that shopping is kinda limited and buying plus sizes then having them tailored to fit properly is pricey, not to mention the only plus sized store is 40min away and I don't drive. I would only like to be able to go to a store that I can easily find pants in and grab a top to match, it can be an XL for all I care lol, as long as it fits, its a decent price and I didn't have to go to 40 dif stores to find it. grr
