(Really) low impact aerobics

Does anyone have suggestions for the days when my knees are KILLING me? I know I need to move to get a bit of burn going. But usually by mid-week, my knees and quads are shot. I've changed my routine a bit to include more stretching after each days workout, but I still think I need to find some type of 'chair-robics' to get through my Wednesday.

I'm about 3 weeks into changing my lifestyle and don't want to have any excuses for not hitting the gym...so any suggestions would be appreciated.

    How about an elliptical machine, or some of the other equipment available at the gym? Swimming would also be a very low impact option.
