Hi all,
I am a shortie.. 5 feet..looking for others to share how many calories they eat in a day..and if you exercise do you eat more? Can't seem to find the right balance of calories needed a day for weight loss.

I eat 1550-1650 calories a day however I burn about 2100-2300 calories because I exercise alot. I usually have anywhere from a 500-800 deficit. How many calories are you eating a day and how much do you weigh?0

hi im 5ft too you can add me as a friend if you like.
i have a fairly active day with my work and family life but not doing any 'gym' exercise as yet.
i started on the 1200 cals but have now upped it to 1300 to have a 1lb loss a week, so far so good, know i will have to change it up eventually. also starting on a week of low carb eating to see how i find it
for me up to 1300 works i am not hungry but could easily pick and graze if i didnt keep it in check
fantastic weightloss already for you 41lbs well done x0 -
I'm 5'2. It depends on how much you have to lose, and what you currently weigh, and your activity level. MFP calculates all this for you. I prefer to eat around 1200-1300 a day.0

I currently weigh 158.. I am trying to eat 1400-1500 cals a day.. I workout 5 days a week for 1 hour.. I burn 400-500 calories per workout. I run, elliptical, spin, walk..
My BMI is 1250 at rest0 -

You should eat around 1270 and then whatever you workout eat back. So if you burn 400 calories in your workout you should be eating 1670 calories that day. I would make sure you are effectively tracking your calories and exercises and not going over in estimations. Also you shouldn’t be doing the same thing every day. Switch it up or your body will stop loosing weight.0 -
Yeah, my body has completely stalled since around December. I do weigh and measure everything..I only eat serving sizes..etc....recently, I'm trying to cut carbs..trying to stay at 100 or under a day to see if this helps. Been to dietician, dr, and endocrinologist all who do not have answers as to why I'm not losing:( very frustrating thats for sure.0

Whats your workout life like? What have you been doing this entire time. Have you had your thyroid tested?0
-
Yes, I've had thyroid tested..it came back within the normal range but "high" so Dr. put me on levothyroxin..to try and kick start my metabolism.. that didn't work.. she then referred me to endocrinologist thinking he may have answers.. he ran a bunch of tests but they all came back normal..he then increased my levo but no such luck.
I've always stalled and had a hard time losing..guess thats why I would always quit so fast..
In the beginning when I was losing sporadic at that..I walked a couple miles several days a week.. I started out eating 1500 a day.. then as I got more fit I started running.. which I LOVE! I now LOVE exercise:)
workouts are something like this..varies on day
day 1 running treadmill 30 minutes 2-3 miles
spin bike 30 minutes intervals 10 miles
day 2 elliptical intervals or hill climb 30-45 minutes
day 3 running/walking treadmill 60 minutes
day 4 elliptical 30 minutes
spin bike 30 minutes
day 5 running treadmill 30 minutes
elliptical 30 minutes0 -

Medically there might be something there but you have all cardio and no weights. You NEED to lift weights and more then a 3 or 5 pound bar 3 times a week. Legs, Arms, Back/shoulders, and core! You won't gain much muscle on a deficit however you will loose alot of body fat that way because it burns A LOT of calories and your body has gotten use to running. Try a cardio dvd instead of all the running. Still run because you love it however do some cardio that is not running/walking/elliptical.0 -
I'm 5'2" I usually eat 1100-1300. I eat back my exercise calories if I'm hungry or just really want a treat. MFP yells at me for not eating enough somedays but I figure if I'm not hungry why eat. I just listen to what my body tells me.0

Go to scoobysworkshop.com I'm 5'2" and to maintain I only need about 1600 calories not the so called 2000 they say every woman should b eating (no wonder I got chunky in the first place) I find their calculator to be a little friendlier for the shorties...0
