You could try eating before. Walking around with a water or light beverage. And focusing on socializing/networking, place yourself far from the food.

    Just some suggestions.

I don't get nervous anymore because I know I consume too many calories at parties/events due to snacking/drinking. I treat it as a day off and get back to my grind the next morning.

Thanks guys! all good and valid points. I guess I'm just a tad nervous about reversing all of my hard work, but when I think about it logically, I've had a small cheat meal here and there and haven't gained a pound back. thanks for helping me put this into perspective!

You're not going to reverse all of your hard work unless you've only been working hard for 2 or 3 days.

If you can get back to business the next day I'd say relax and have a good time. Being 100% perfect 100% of the time is not reasonable nor is it desirable.

Try to keep a glass of water in hand at all times. Will help curb the urge to eat if you are constantly drinking water. Works for me. :) Helped me survive my nephews b-day party.

Parties are a time to take a small break and eat a few things that you usually would not. Just do it in moderation and get right back the next day. It helps me keep my sanity.

    I do.

To counter that, I eat a moderately sized meal before and I only eat very small amounts at the party.
