Textbook hourglass girls

I am a textbook hourglass. I have broad hips and shoulders, and a small waist. I was so excited about my weight loss, and got kind of discouraged because my waist was shrinking soooo much and I thought it looked terrible. I was 36-29-36. and my waist got down to 26 without my other measurments changing. I thought it looked gross so I purposly put on weight.

Now I'm just skating by with the way I look and more or less maintaining this. I'd like to lose about 10 more lbs but I don't want to shave it off my waist like that. I know you can't spot reduce, but can you avoid losing on certain parts of your body?

Probably a stupid question.

I've always wondered the same thing. I LOVE my hourglass figure, I just wish the proportions were smaller, LOL>

exactly. I love that my body is shaped this way, just wish it wouldn't be so extreme

From a man's perspective (well mine at least) I'm attracted to all different types of women. I dont have a "type". I've dated very skinny, tall, short, HUGE boobs, no boobs, ghetto booty, pancake booty...a whole gambit. The only things that are MUSTs is sense of humor and trust! Looks fade with time.

But we are all built differently. Embrace your body for the amazing thing it is!

Actually your meansurements aren't extreme at all, I mean that's what an hourglass is supposed to be so you're actually in a posistion a lot of women who are pear or apple or ruler shaped would kill for....I'm probably 11 inches smaller in my waist than my hips/shoulders..and no matter what I've done thoughout my weight loss journey the inches have changed but not the proportions..so I think it's safe to say you're going to have the same amount of difference..which is amazing if you ask me..I mean everyone wants an hourglass figure!!

The way you dress may have a big impact on how you seee your body..but I know for myself that I have pretty serious body image issues that make it hard for me to see myself in a positive way..so I just have to remind myself that there's a lot of people out there that would love to be an hourglass and I cut my body a break for not necessarily being what I want it to be..trust me you're rockin a body that a lot of women would just love to have...I mean a 26 inch waist is just sick... so be proud of your body!!

"Bulk" up your abs. Squats, weight ab exercise, while eating at a calorie surplus.

But seriously, who complains about having too small of a waist?

Wow, sorry I know this isn't helpful for you but I wish I had those proportions. My big problems is that my waist is usually 2 dress sizes above my hips. Clothes don't fit nicely, and I'm worried they never will.

I'm really more of a 'trashy magazine' hourglass... but your genetics are going to determine a lot of where you lose and gain first/last. Learn to love what you have and focus on your strength and endurance.

    or something.

Right now I'm a pear (37-30-41) but that's because when I gained weight and then lost it a few times my boobs shrank more than my hips did. I went from a D to a low C. I'm happy with my Cs but I now am waiting for my hips to catch up again. I used to be, and intend to be again, an hourglass. I have been 40-30-40 before but want to be more like 36-26-36 if my body will let me.

Well I'm currently 38-28-38, textbook hourglass.

Before kids, I lost weight and my waist went down to 25(!) before my hips started moving. But they did eventually! I think us hourglass girls just tend to lose from our waist first

Even though I gain weight super easy, at least I've got my shape going for me!

I have to agree, I don't see this as being a problem. Perhaps you need to work on how self critical you are.

I'm hourglass too (42-30-42)! And sometimes you can't really fight the shape you are. My cousin is a pear shape and she always tries to reduce her hips and thighs, but what she doesn't realize is that it's just the way she naturally is.

And I'm about halfway finished my weight loss journey. I've only seen a real difference in my waist too. I've only lost an inch or so around my chest and hips.

Kind of a weird thing to say, there's no measurement you're "supposed to" have.

I always thought an hourglass shape was the perfect shape and jealous that I don't have one and probably never will. I would love to be shaped like that!

I do love my figure, just want it all smaller 43-38-48 solid 212 lbs. I seem to have gained weight without inches . its frustruating right now cause i would like to be under 200lbs. Just did a topic about that too, trying to get some help with that.

Embrace the shape only 8% of women have a true hourglass, and from what I understand the rule for hourglass is
bust and hips must be within 3 inches of each other with your waist at least 9 inches smaller than bust and hips.

    I'm 38-28-40 and I wouldn't change a thing.

but you could try to build up the muscle in your torso, it might thicken you up if you feel your waist is too small.

I genuinely thought this was trolling when I first read it....I WISH those were my measurements! But I'm a pear shape and all of my weight is leaving my thighs instead of my waist. If only my waist would get smaller. But really...Why would you complain about your waist (of all things) being too small? I love hourglass figures and I hope eventually I will have one. I think your measurements are perfect.

she means to be considered an hourglass you are supposed to have a certain criteria of measurments. Thats how they categorize the body shapes.

    Im getting there i guess.
    (i am 5ft1) I was:

    195 lbs
    chest: 42
    Waist 42
    hips: 52

    NOW:
    142 lbs
    Chest: 37
    Waist: 32
    Hips: 37

^ this is WITH an umilical hernia, which takes up a few inches, along with excess skin and muscle separation from my twins.
