Streches for Running

I've been trying lately to start running a couple of times a week . Are there any streches I should do before I go to prevent injuring myself and to cut down on leg cramps? I haven't done any running since gym class in my freshman year of high school (and, let's be honest, I didn't run too much then either). Any help would be appreciated! XD

The most important muscle to stretch is your quads... warm up for 5 or 10 minutes and then stretch... the "flamingo stretch" is a good one, make sure you have your hips, knees, and ankle in alignment... I usually just reach down to my calves to stretch my hamstrings and then use a tree or something to stretch my calves... it all depends on the person, I personally stretch after I run and sometimes before if I'm feeling tight... good luck with the running

I try to stretch out my shins too after a run to help prevent shin splints.
