You could try something that is chocolatey, but a healthier version. Maybe low-fat chocolate frozen yogurt or a small cup of jell-o chocolate pudding.0

This won't help you right now, but search the "321 cake" recipe for future emergencies.0

Eat low cal vegetables instead (I always have dill pickles on hand). Drink water, or coffee, or tea. Hell, I even drink a diet soda when I'm craving things.0

Sometimes when you crave a food it means your thirsty or just hungry in general. Try having a glass of water with lemon. If that doesn't help try having an apple or some type of whole food. Fruit or veggies normally do the trick for me.0

Try a mug of sugar free hot chocolate. I kills my craving, tastes good, and its warm and comforting. sip it slowly. Works for me every time.0

Fruit salad gives you natural sweetness. Top with unsweetened coconut and almonds.0

Whatever you don't bake one! Cookies are my weakness and my daughter just made some and they are so delicious thank goodness I have help around here to make them disappear
When you crave the cake what is it you are really after??? Is it texture or taste? Chocolate cake is a difficult one to fake...muffins are close for texture and any chocolate substitute can fulfill taste. Sometimes I wait it out and it will pass and other times it won't. If you are really craving chocolate cake and start trying to fix it by eating other things you may go overboard eating one thing after another. I have done this a few times before I realized that it would have been fewer calories if I had just eaten what I wanted to begin with.
If it is a strong craving and nothing else will do...go out to your favorite place for cake and order a slice...if you can take someone with you to help you eat it. (I can always count on my youngsters to help me) Or make the cake of choice and take it to a friends / neighbor or to work and share. This way you can't have too much and you have made someone else's day and that should put a smile on your face.
Also make sure you are not cutting your carbs so much that your causing these cravings. For me once a month I have issues with cravings and it is easier to deal with them if I know why. Don't beat yourself up if you have some cake if you really want it, the longer you watch what you eat the easier it will be to deal with.
Good luck!0 -
How about a cup of plain greek yogurt with a scoop of chocolate whey protein powder? It takes like chocolate mousse and it has over 30g of protein!0

Never thought of that one! I need to eat more yogurt and I don't care for the Greek so much...too thick. I use it as a replacement for sour cream but never considered adding protein powder. Sounds interesting... what brand are you using? Is it a meal replacement or protein powder?0 -

Oh my GOD....doing this!! Thank you!0 -
They also have dessert yogurts that can fulfill that chocolate craving. Or I'll sometimes have an apple and a piece of dark chocolate. I dont like dark chocolate enough to eat a lot of it, yet it fulfills the craving. Right now there are donuts in the kitchen at work. Usually I convince myself that one won't hurt. This might be gross but it REALLY does work for me. When I want to talk myself out of eating something (like these donuts) I imagine maggots crawling on them. Icky, but it works for me.0

I really need to loose the weight fast! I am so tired of looking at myself in pictures and seeing what I see! I am doing a low carb thing which I try to get almost no carbs at all. I love the chocolate frosting on the cake!0
