Recently, (about 5 months ago), I lost nearly 40 pounds. I was very particular on what I ate. Never ate junk food or sweets; if I ate sweets it was just a bite or two. Now, since I realized i can have some stuff I wasn't eating without dying, I eat it more often and am eating A LOT now a days and can't stop! AHH! Don't know what to do?

Experiment with the effect certain amounts of food have on your body, it will make sense in time what is hindering or benefiting you =]
Best of luck! you look absolutely stunning at the moment, so what ever it is you were doing, must have been good for you =]0 -
A lot of people have this all or nothing tendency. It's normal. But it's not healthy.
Think about whether you are connecting your emotions to food and the control you feel when you do/don't indulge in certain foods. Try to think about these things - what triggers you wanting to eat more, what methods you can use to help regain your sense of self control.
Remember - one bad thing does not make a bad day just like one good thing does not make a good day.0 -
be VERY VERY careful! I lost all my weight in WW and had the mentality that because I was "small" I could eat more of what I wasn't supposed to eat! Guess what here I am at MFP and I am now at my heaviest weight EVER! Just remember...it's those foods that got us in that awful place in the first place!0

Gergie, that's EXACTLY how I feel.. I am really contemplating seeing someone about it. I am what you call "skinny fat".0

Im going to go out on a limb here...and by looking at your diary, you swing from one end to another...quite low, to "high"...and they sort of rotate, if you will. Some may be able to do that and have good luck and good mental health, maybe you struggle......maybe try to more consistent in your calories?? Im no pro, but just an idea???0

Hello! Welcome to MFP!
MFP is a really great resource to keep you focused and connect you with a wealth of fitness resources and like minded folks.
1. Log your foods every day - don't skip days, or parts of your day. log everything!
2. Analyze each day - see where it went good and where it went bad - too much fat? maybe too many carbs? over the calorie limit? Identify and plan how to correct it for tomorrow.
3. Reach out to the community with questions or advice needs.
4. Build a network of friends here!
5. Above all, do not believe everything you read here. There is a lot of great advice, but also some misleading and hype type advice. Part of getting fit is educating yourself in aspects of health and fitness. Make sure any questionable advice is looked at with a scientific eye and look for facts, evidence, and most importantly real world proof.
6. You are more than a number. Sometimes the scale may not say what you hoped - thats fine. weight loss is not a straight line declination. Its a bumpy line that drops over time. Don't let single day numbers get your focus away from term based results.
7. Vary your exercises. Your body forms memories and can slow down how it burns fat and builds muscles. Keep it confused! Hit it hard with cardio styles. Build lean muscle to burn even more fat.
8. and above all - take your photo now! You will want to look back and have a starting BEFORE picture to proudly display along with your series of PRESENT or CURRENT photos during your transformation and continued lifestyle of fitness.
I welcome you, and anyone else out there to add me as a friend. I have made fitness and health my passion and love the idea of folks joining me in my new lifestyle of being fit, healthy, and most importantly - HAPPY!.
I'm here to support and motivate!!! I find my own success comes easier when I help and fuel other folks success.
and remember - most folks care more about the quality of fuel they put in their lawn mowers than the fuel they put in their bodies. Don't be one of those people. Whole foods. Natural foods. Intelligent choices.
Fit for life,

Wow Mark Mayhem that was the most constructive advice I've seen in a while.
You hit the nail on the head.
I've been on here a while and have got a great network of friends and support.
My weight loss has been very slow and sporadic over the time I've been here.
I do exercise and I do count my calories.
You have motivated me to rethink.
I also need to really look at the food and drink I'm consuming. I know You can eat 1200 good food calories a day
And just as easily eat 1200 bad food calories.
Good luck SportyBrewers finding the healthier route for you. :flowerforyou:0 -

When you feel like then pick something you feel safe with that comes in one portion, like an apple. Eat it, then go for a walk. Distract yourself. If you still find you're hungry then consider something else.
One method for keeping your calories more even is to calculate your total daily energy expenditure - TDEE (with a website like this: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html) and enter how much exercise you do. Since you want to lose, subtract 10-30 percent from the final number and that's what you should eat. BUT don't log your exercise calories. I log my sessions but always say they burn 1 calorie. Then I am eating the same amount each day but I am still eating enough to fuel my active lifestyle.0 -
