Hi. Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I have recently switched from using "Loseit" to "myfitnesspal." I've lost 45 lbs. since December. I have 15-20ish pounds to get into the "healthy" range on the BMI charts. Hoping to get there soon, but the smaller I get the slower it comes off!

I've been successful so far with old fashioned hard work, lots of exercise and logging everything that goes in my mouth. I have become an avid bicyclist in the past few months. I have been training for a 25 mile ride that is coming up in a few weeks. I also ran my first 5K on the fourth of July. There was an athlete hiding inside me!

I wanted to post to encourage those with health problems as a result of their weight. Weight loss and exercise really does all the things they say it will... I have PCOS and had been diagnosed with SEVERE insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, and hypertension. I was on two blood pressure medications and Glucophage for blood sugar. A few months ago I was taken off of the blood pressure medications. I went to my endocrinologist a few days ago for my 6 month check. He took me OFF of my blood sugar medicine as well! My blood pressure yesterday was 110/65 with no meds and my resting heart rate was 60. I have to get an A1C done in three months, and as long as everything still looks good, I will have officially "cured" myself of both hypertension and pre-diabetes. My doctor says I have decreased my risk for full blown diabetes by sixty percent.

My husband is thrilled with how I look, but I am more excited about the health changes than anything else. I never thought I'd make it this far and be able to get off of the meds. I never believed that these things would go away with weight loss. I just wanted to share some of my story to encourage others facing health challenges. Good luck!
