Best running shoes

Anyone have and suggestions on running shoes? Never really bought a pair but they are a reward for a weight loss goal. Where can I buy them and around what price range should I expect to pay?

depends on a lot of things.

the shape of your feet, your running style, any weaknesses you might have, etc.
what is the best shoe for one person might be the worst shoe for another.

personally, i like the 'barefoot' running shoes. the vibram & vovo.
they suit me but they might be asking for injury on someone else.

i suggest going to a really good sports shop! try things on.

go to a "real" running store, they will look at your stride, how you run, bring the shes you run in with you.

Best thing I ever did was go to a store that found shoes that fit me corectly for running

Agree with mellowga, find a running store near you and have them fit you. Regarding cost, expect to pay anywhere from $75 to $150. Expensive does not necessarily mean better.

Sooner or later someone will pop up on a thread like this and say "get Asics they're great" or "get Mizuno Wave Riders they're the best".

Do yourself a favour and don't listen to them. They don't have your feet!!!

Find a proper running shop with experienced staff. Maybe ask someone at a local running club where they recommend. They will assess your feet and running style and will probably let you try a range of shoes, based on your gait, the mileage you'll be doing, the surface you want to run on etc.

A decent running shop will NOT try to sell you their most expensive pair! They will try to find the best match for you.

The best running shoes are the ones that fit and are comfy.

If you are in the UK I suggest you watch the BBC documentary on sports goods, there is practically no research that proves that trainers are any good, or that bare foot running is good, or one style is good etc etc :-)

Definitely go to a running store and get fitted!! I started running in Nikes and was getting awful shin splints. I was fitted for brooks and love them. Everyone is different and needs a shoe perfect for them!
