Possible Gluten Allergy?

I went to the nutritionist for the first time yesterday. Had never met her before. I scheduled the meeting not because I wanted weight loss help (MFP has me on track) but because I was worried the things I was eating was not doing well for my digestion, and to see if there were improvements I could make.

Warning, TMI.

I have to go to the bathroom now much more than ever before. And when I do, I am cramping (mildly not crazy) and it is very loose. Generally happens every evening. Generally at inconvenient times.

She asked if it happened more during TOM and I explained that that was why I called last week finally, when I had TOM and things were especially bad.

She suggested I get tested for a gluten allergy. Some of my symptoms were similar. She also was concerned that I described my weight loss as one of the easiest things I have done (really, this time it just is) and that seemed like gluten too.

She did love how well I tracked my food, my frequent meals, and my fiber, protein, and calorie levels. My carbs seemed a bit high at times as was my fiber.

I am scheduled for gluten test tomorrow (results in 10 days). I late developed lactose intolerance so have switched to Almond Milk. Never before any issue with gluten.

Thoughts? Is this the new cool diagnosis when nothing else is apparent?

It happened to me. I was sick and on antibiotics for months. Always in the bathroom. Swelling a lot. I was given drug after drug. Anti depressants and everything under the sun. It was until I had symptoms of a rare form of breast cancer did someone bring up gluten. It was because of skin issues I was having.

Some people are born with celiac disease and it is discovered right away. Others may not know until a severe illness or severe stress can cause it to show up. A lot of people are developing an intolerance because it is in almost everything we eat now.

If your test comes back positive don't worry. It's not that hard to cut out. Also the tests are not always accurate. You may want to try cutting it out anyway and see what happens.

I do not suggest buying all the gluten free substitutes though. The breads are awful and it's all expensive. Most are full of fat and sugars.

msg me if you have any questions.
