I have just been walking on the treadmill, and doing some squats, tricep pulls in the gym, but I'm getting to the point that I need an actual workout plan. I'm a creature of habit (probably why I got so fat in the first place) and I will probably find a workout plan that I like and do it for the next 4 years, so it's gotta be good. Does anyone have any recommendations on places to go to find one?

  • My favorite workout is the elliptical. 45 minutes a day, 6 days a week, changing the incline and resistance every 4 minutes. (I'll go incline 6 resistance 7 for 4 min, then switch to 9 and 9). Burns about 440 calories! Then I do strength training, focusing on arms and shoulders one day and the next day doing chest and back.

a 5x5 routine like starting strength, madcows, or bill starrs 5x5 would be a great start.

Does your gym offer classes? I would suggest going to those. If you go at a regular time, it will soon become part of your routine.

I do the "random" program on the treadmill on lunch M, W, F for 40min w/ 5 min cool down. Here is my set up on the program.
I burn 469 cal in my 45min workout!!

    *Random Intensity level 11
    *5 MIN 2.5mph(warm up)
    *10 MIN 2.9 mph
    *10 MIN 3.1 mph
    *10 MIN 2.9 mph
*3 MIN 2.5 mph (begin slowing heart rate)
*2 MIN 3.5 mph (confuse body for extra cal burn)
    *automated cool down
