Heart rate low

What is your heart rate when you are relaxed and sitting? Age and fitness level too please.

I am asking this because I have been feeling light headed and tired so I went to the Dr yesterday.....my pulse was 44.....and when they laid me down to do the ekg, it went down to 39. Average resting rate should be 60 - 100 for adults. If you are very fit, you could have a lower rate.....I am not fit. Just started exercising 4 weeks ago, can only do about 25 min on the elliptical before I am worn out. They have me scheduled to see a cardioligist in the morning so will find out more then.

I'm at about 44-46 beats per minute at the moment just sitting here. I don't get light headed and I can easily do an hour on the elliptical at a moderate pace. I was wondering if my resting heart rate was too low too so that's why I looked here. I'm 33 (34 next month) and 229 pounds (down from 247). Oh, and I'm a guy.

I've been exercising 3-6 times a week for 5 weeks now. I wish I would have taken my resting heart rate before I started to see how it's changed in that time.

My exercise schedule is basically MWF I do a 45 minute interval training on the elliptical machine (will post details if interested). M-F I do the 5 minutes of cardio that are in the Android app called "Daily Cardio Workout". On Saturday or Sunday (usually not both) I'll do some other lower amount of exercise such as riding a bike or walking a few miles. I put all this here so that I can show that I don't have any problems with high activity despite having the low resting heart rate. I'm assuming that means that I've gotten my heart and cardiovascular system working pretty efficiently or something.

One last thing I just remembered. This might sound silly, but I seem to have a hard time getting out of breath on the elliptical. I can be going at a really good clip and still have a conversation easily for example. This wasn't the case the first week I was doing it though. Now I'm really only out of breath when doing the intervals stuff where I'm going all out for 30 seconds at a time. And even with that I'm starting to recover/get my breath back a lot faster than I used to.

My resting heart rate is usually about 45-50bpm but that is because of cardiovascular fitness. I am 29. If it is making you tired and dizzy then I definitely agree you should see your cardiologist to see what they find.

Well, went to my cardioligist appo......they did a stress test and everything went fine. Got up to my 100% mark and blood pressure and everything working just like it should. The dr wants me to wear a monitor just to make sure my heart rate doesn't drop below 40 while sleeping but for now he just thinks that the 40's range is my normal resting heart rate. He say's to come back and see him in a month. Maybe those few weeks of exercising has gotten my heart working more efficiently because last year, before exercise, my resting heart rate was in the 60's.

Also figured out why I felt like crap all last week.......I had Whiplash !! That explains my constant headache, sore neck, light headedness, tiredness......it's too crazy to explain just how I got it but it wasn't from a car wreck or anything abusive....or wild, lol. So now the only thing that still worries me is that I still get light headed about half way through my hour drive home, and that has been going on about 2 months. So that could well be my heart pumping too slow when I get really relaxed. Guess I need to turn up the radio and dance in my seat to keep up the beat :)

Will keep y'all posted on my sleeping heart rate.....
