hey :-) i've been trying to sort out my arms. before i put on weight they were firm and non flabby. then i put on 10lbs and they became 'chubby' looking. since starting my calorie counting/cardio/weight training i've manage to get rid of the 'chubby' look and they FEEL firm.. but i feel like they still look kinda chunky, and there's definitely flab still to get rid of at the back only. - but they still do feel firm at the back im confused! im scared of upping my tricep excersizes incase they go chunky. any advice?

Keep doing the weight (tricep) training, they won't get chunkier if your not gaining weight. Cardio and a calorie deficit will be the most important things when trying to remove the flab and making your arms look better!0

Shoulder exercises may help for "the look" as well. Military press (in front of your head!), side raises, front raises, etc...
If it's rear deltoid that you're looking for, try reverse flys (not sure what the exercise is actually technically called).0 -
thanks for the direction guys0

Like the first person said...keep up with the cardio and calorie deficit and keep doing the strength training...sounds like there may still be a layer of fat over the muscles you're trying to develop...0

You may wanna take a peek at the book New rules on lifting for women..by Lou Schuler..You want arms..you will get them with that book !! Say no to the barbie weights..if you get my drift
oh..and PS you will NOT bulk up!! The heavier you can do..the better..you have to tear a muscle down a bit..to get it to shape.. throwing around the same 10 pound weight will not get you the same results..Many women(actually I should say most!) under-estimate their strength... If you think you can only do 8...odds are you can do 12 :drinker:
Good luck!0 -
I agree with everybody else :P Just keep hitting the iron and zeroing in on your diet. Also, as an addition to what Red was saying: Getting "bulky" is actually a common concern for women who weight train, but you needn't worry. Yes, its possible to look like a body builder if that's your goal, but keep in mind, that kind of muscle mass requires a highly specialized diet and training regimen and genetics play a role as well. Basically, you need to TRAIN for those specific results.
Generally though, women will but on lean muscle and lose fat as the diet and workouts allow, same as men. In terms of getting "bulky" its really a matter of perspective, but you shouldnt worry and train heavy and hard just like Red was saying,0
