Tapout XT Help

I recently started Tapout XT and I love the program. Unfourtunately, I just don't have the time to workout six days a week, at least not on a regular basis. After looking over the calender and reviewing the workouts it seems as though a few of them a fairly similar. (Strength + force Upper and Ripped Conditioning for example). So my question is, do I need to do EVERY workout on the calender, or is there some I don't need, or can be substituted on a 4 day a week training schedule?

Hi. I just started Week 10, Day 1 today. What kind of time do you have available. the max amount of time you need will be about 75 minutes, but average is 45-50 minute workouts. Do you not have this kind of time to spare at all?
  • I do it 2 to 3 times a week following the calendar in order with running mixed into it.

I have the minutes. That is, i have the time to do a workout, but not the time to do it six days a week. so Im wondering what the best way to do it on a 4 day a week schedule is.

By the way. Week 10. impressive. I've been doing it for a week and a half, and it's no joke. How are you liking your results?

I do what I can, while still following the calendar, if I miss a day or two, I just pick up where I left off. I don't always use their rest days as rest either, I figure I take enough days off here and there so I just keep on track and skip when a rest day comes up unless I've managed to complete the whole week. Just finished my first 30 days....moving on to month 2. :)

Feel free to friend me if you want. :)

I actually tried going through p90 before this, but my muscle mass is already were I want it to be, so Im looking for something a bit more cardio focused but not as much as Insanity, for example and it looks like Tapout is what I'm looking for.

30 days, way to go. It's actually around the one month mark that most alot of exercisers start to lose steam. Kudos for sticking with it. are you satisfied with your results as well?

I can't look at myself and really see a difference yet, I can tell by my measurements and my husband keeps making comments about my butt, but when I look in the mirror I feel like I look the same. I have been fed up and ready to quit a couple times, but then I realize that I didn't gain the weight and get lazy in a couple of months.... it is hard work though, between the daily mini challenges here on MFP, my fitbit where I walk 10,000 steps a day and at least 20 flights of steps, and then Tapout on top of it, my muscles are sore every night.... something that I really dislike but have learned that for me it is just progress.... now if I could just get some of this darn weight to come off !!!

I say do the 4 workouts that you want each week (pick and choose what you like). If you're familiar with them enough already, then you know that some are pretty much all cardio, strengh/core mix, all core, mix of everything.

It's a struggle for sure, and I am definitely loving the results. Down 7 lbs, few inches off my waist and hips. More than anything I'm toning up and that's what I notice the most just from looking in the mirror (less jiggle).

Remember, muscle weighs more than fat. so as you replace one with the other initially your weight might not change to much or you might seem to actually get heavier.. My advice is not to pay to much attention to your actual weight. focus instead on your body composition. The purpose of a workout like Tapout is to train like a fighter, and turn your body in a lean, fat burning machine. Those kinds of changes can take time. The body has an initial "adjustment period" Whenever you start a new routine. Your body has to basically relearn what your expecting from it, as well as how to meet those expectations.

This means bigger, stronger muscles, better cardio and less fat. If your overweight, (like I was for most of my life) than you need to teach your body how to burn fat for fuel instead of carbs or muscle tissue. That is a big part of the reason why it's important to stick to your routine as well as your diet. If your taking good care of yourself, than basically your body has no choice but to burn fat.

But listen to your husband. He has just as much to get out of your new body as you do. so stick with it, don't give up and you'll get where you want to go.
