I recently started a new job for the summer which requires me to drive one hour each way to work. I work to 10 hours a day and by the time I get home i am exhausted. I stand all day and sit for maybe 30 mins total through out the day. I have set my activity level at lightly active and my calories to maintenance in the hopes to at least gain nothing this summer. Just looking for some suggestions for something that I can do when I get home that will give me a decent calorie burn. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also drive the same distance every day and work 8-10 (and yesterday 12) hour days. Been doing this since last November. In the winter I like to hit the gym before I drive home and take either kickboxing or step class...both high calorie burners. Once the days started getting longer and warmer I found that I can't bring myself to go to the gym after work so now I get up at 4am, drive to the gym, work out on either treadmill or take boot camp classes and then go to work. Once I get home, I just want to chill.

Burpees really get your heart going and incorporate strength training as well. You can search youtube for videos on how to do them. I also searched for "modified burpees" and I do them as well as I can with where I am physically.

Do an at-home circuit routine, it'll get your heart rate up and you'll be able to lose inches faster with strength exercises, as opposed to just cardio.

I do mine for 10 minutes and it's just a mixture of squats, lunges, different types of leg lifts and push ups, with 30 sec. intervals of jump rope and jumping jacks in between. It gets my heart rate up FAST as opposed to just walking or boring myself to death on the elliptical. And I can do it at HOME!

Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred is a great workout for a short amount of time... each workout is less than 25 minutes, I believe, and it will leave you sweating and your heart pounding.

    Try the "100 workout"

    100 jumping jacks (or jumprope)
    90 crunches
    80 squats
    70 leg lifts
    60 jumping jacks (or jumprope)
    50 crunches
    40 squats
    30 leg lifts
    20 jumping jacks
    10 minute run

    Guaranteed killer in 20-25 minutes!
