Advice needed! Don't want motivation to fade!!

Hey guys,

This is my third week on MFP and I've been feeling pretty good so far. Exercising a lot more than usual, eating better on the whole (still having some "unclean" food but less frequently and smaller portions - always fit in with my calories) and feel healthier and less bloated.

The first two weeks were great, I lost 3.3kg and was feeling strong - I've never stuck to anything like this for more than a week so I've been feeling pretty good about myself. I've been weighing myself daily (just to begin with) and for the first two weeks was losing a little every day (with one or two where i went up a little). This week, my weight had gone up 0.2kg, then down 0.1kg, and then down 0.1kg again to my starting point! My mum said it's probably hormones and that next week the extra weight will come off, as I've still been working out and eating within my calories.

I'm just worried because I don't want my motivation to fade. I know a lot of people will read this and see it as silly, but I'm only new to this and 3 weeks is a big deal to me to stick to something, and I just want some advice so that I can really keep going and give this my all!

Does anyone have any advice as to why this would happen? I know they say that you hit a plateau after awhile but this is only my third week so surely it's too early! I log every single thing I eat, as accurately as possible (difficult sometimes when I don't prepare the meal) and exercise every day. I always eat within my 1200 net and on the whole are eating a lot healthier. I also generally don't eat breakfast till around midday (can't really eat in the morning) and have a relatively late lunch and dinner as my partner works late.

So please give me your thoughts!!

It takes weeks and weeks to notice change. Try not to weigh yourself too often. Your mom is right. Hormones and retaining water can cause unwanted temporary weight gain. Keep doing what your doing, don't stop! Try judging things based on how you feel overall and how your clothing fits. Muscle weighs more than fat, so anytime you add muscle it can cause weight gain. (something that takes much longer than 3 weeks)
Make sure to eat a lot of fiber protein and lots of water! Cut down sodium intake - which can cause you to retain water and do lots of cardio! At least 30 minutes of hard to breathe cardio 4 times a week.
    Good luck in your journey!
