Replacing warm milk with cardio

I usually feel pretty good about my eating through-out the day, but it still feels nice to get in a little bit of an extra workout right before bed. If i workout in the morning, or mid day, it always makes me unbelievably hungry, (dizziness, headaches, the whole nine yards.) and i end up over eating. So maybe pre-bedtime cardio is the way to go? I have two roommates who i would prefer not to bother with noise....any ideas?

Exercise wakes me up, so no way I could sleep within a couple of hours of a good run.
I'd suggest a mid-day exercise, having a proper meal 1-2h before, and drinking lots of water in the time leading up to it.
Or you could experiment with a protein/recovery shake right afterwards, mind watch the calories on those buggers.
Lack of carbs in my diet took a lot of energy out of my runs, so have a pasta and see how you feel the next day when exercising ;-)
  • I prefer cardio after dinner as well (that is, after I've digested). I usually don't do intense cardio, but rather take my time (give myself two hours) and read a magazine or watch TV as I do it. My fave is the bike (any kind) or elliptical. It works great, as long as you don't have plans...then it can get quite annoying!

Also, it seems to prime the body for sleep. Makes you relaxed, and full in a nice way! And you don't have to sweat the sweat (like you might in the morning or noon).
