Walking with Nordic Sticks

Recently aka this week I've started incorporating walking into my work out, because I felt like my body wasn't benefitting as much any more from me just riding my bike. I just got an HRM as well, which I'll be starting to use today.
I walk between 5-6km when I'm out, keeping a pace of about 6km an hour, which I think is fairly good as a start, meaning each km takes about 9 minutes. Obviously I'm hoping to increase this eventually, but for now, I'm quite pleased with it.
However, I do own a pair of Nordic Sticks that I've been wondering if I should start incorporating. I walk mostly along the road, though part of my walk, about 1.5km is along a hiking path. How strange would that look to have the Nordic Sticks with me as I walk? Especially as I suppose I'd be considered young at 22, and I've never really seen anyone else use them.
Also, how much do they actually help? Will that be read out on my HRM? My HRM does have a chest strap, so.

I say if you're comfortable with it, try it for a few days and see what your burns compare to with and without them since you have an HRM. You just might get a better overall body workout since it will incorporate swinging your arms more. I carry two full 20 ounce water bottles with me when I go and pump my arms as fast as my legs. By the end, I really feel it in my sides. :flowerforyou:0
