I was just wondering does excercise and losing weight while building muscle make your metabolism work faster?

yes, exercising alone will increase your metabolism. if you lose body fat and build lean muscle tissue your metabolism will increase as well as long as you are eating enough calories in the day0

Building lean muscle mass is the only proven way to "rev up your metabolism"* This is especially important for men over the age of 40 as we tend to lose about 1% of our lean muscle mass per year unless we start a fitness program that includes a strength training component. ( Don't overlook your aerobic fitness - while building LMM will increase your BMR cardio is the big calorie burner when it comes to exercise)
The added benefits (for both men and women) of strength training include improved injury resistance and increased bone density, there have been several interesting studies that have demonstrated that strength training helps older people avoid many of the problems of aging (loss of balance, fairly etc)

* I hate it when I see that in advertising as 99.9% of the time it's absolute BS being spewed by an unscrupulous company wanting to separate you from your money0 -
Thanks for the explanation!0
