Dropping weight quickly and catching?

I was wondering whether anyone's tried this and whether it's effective and safe.

I saw someone benching and they would allow gravity to completely take the weight down very quickly, they would "catch it", push it up at a normal speed and repeat. It seemed that the hardest part of the workout was catching the weight at the bottom.

  • I have not heard of that. I would recommend researching this so you do not hurt yourself long term by attempting it.

No idea, but it certainly doesn't sound safe :)

One of the best ways to wear the joints down in your elbows and shoulders.

I'm still researching this, but it looks like it's called "reactive lifting".
