I read a lot about couch to 5k before I started so I thought I would share with those who are considering the program. I started 5 weeks ago. I am not finished yet, but I can tell you the program works well. The first time that I had to run for 90 seconds I really, truly struggled. I'm 33, Male, 5'11, about 280.
Today I ran week 5 day 3. That is a 20 minute run. I did it, I never stopped, I never even felt that bad. The last 3 minutes were tough but I think it was mostly because I weigh 280 pounds and I am not yet use to that kind of impact for that long.
Anyway, for anyone who is on the fence, give it a shot. I started with couch to 5k, then I joined this site to track my food, and then I started taking spin classes. I have always hated cardio and loved lifting. I still love lifting but the fact is I need to lose weight and cardio and diet are essential. I lost 5 pounds this week out of nowhere, but I have to be honest that isn't the real victory. I feel really good for the first time in quite a while. My wife and I signed up for a 5k yesterday. 5 weeks has changed a lot for me, if you start doing the program or any program you may say the same. You can do it.

I also have started with this program - free app on iphone! I was never a runner, I played field hockey in high school and we would run miles each day and even at the end of the season I still struggled with every step. I never imagined I could actually be a "runner" I started this program and its gradual build has been perfect. I definitely recommend it for anyone starting to run!0
