Total Daily Energy Expenditure
Basically, it's the number of calories you burn in a given day, counting your BMR (basal metabolic rate) + activities and exercise.0 -
TDEE= Total Daily Energy Expenditure. In other words, the total amount of calories your body burns all day long, including bodily functions, daily activity, and exercise.
BMR= Basal Metabolic Rate. The amount of calories your body burns just to stay alive. In other words, if you were just to stay in bed all day.
People who follow the Eat More to Weigh Less philosophy follow the basic principle that to safely lose weight while preserving maximum muscle, you must eat daily above your BMR, but below your TDEE. Actually, the ideal number to shoot for daily using this method of weightloss is 15% below your TDEE.0 -
Thanks so much! Soundsvery interesting! How do you calculate TDEE????0

Does your internet not have the Google?
:laugh:1 -
I went to Google too after I confessed I didn't know. I usually go to Google to find Anything. Shame on me. I've found that a lot of people don't know how The Goog works.1

Hey Cool
I plugged in the numbers and it came back with 1976 cals daily, I've been eating 2000 +/- 50 pretty much every day and losing 2.6lbs a week
Nice to see the confirmation that I'm doing it right!0 -
For those that might prefer a video explanation of TDEE, O2B does a pretty decent job in the following vid:

Good catch!1 -
That means we should give a reward to someone actually using the search tool on MFP and finding what they need rather than asking the same thing.
Heavens knows this topic at the top will likely help at least half a dozen people that were about to ask in their own topic.
good job @rickinnercirclebet0
