vanity sizing...
After reading through the success stories today, I am wondering if all companies are vanity sizing. I have a 33 inch waist (give or take an inch). I can fit into a 12. One person posted that they had a 34 inch waist and wore a 10, and another posted that she wore a size 8 or 10 with a 32.5 inch waist. No way I could fit my delicate petite self into a size 8. So what gives? Are companies cutting their clothing larger, or am I completely uninformed? I worked in retail about 20 years ago, and I swear at that time that a size 14 was a 34 inch waist. 12 was 32, 10 was 30, 8 was 28, 6 was 26, 4 was 24...etc...what gives?

There's no universal size specification chart unfortunately which is why you can go in one store and be one size and go in another and be a different size. I know some stores do vanity sizes but usually it just depends on the size specification chart each clothing company makes up for themselves and this usually has everything to do with the type of client their target market is.
It drives me nuts being able to fit into a size 10 in one store and not being able to fit into even a 14 in another >:(0 -
ARRRGGGHHHHHHH! This just makes me think they should size women's clothing like men's. If my waist measures 32; I buy a 32. I hate it when my husband walks into a store, buys jeans and refuses to try them on. AND they fit! How is that fair?0

And all of the different,"fits," and the amount of spandex really come into play with women's sizing. It is frustrating.
I bought a new pair the other day that fit fresh out of the dryer, but by noon they were so loose that I could pull them off without unbuttoning. What's up with that?
I am 5'11", so it is already a big enough pain in my *kitten* to find a pair of pants long enough.0 -

If you buy designer denim it goes by your waist size normally. The only difference between brands will usually be more/less room in the thighs.0
