PRP, worth the price of admission?

I am getting surgery on Tuesday to replace my ACL. Before you feel too bad I was trying to kick a high-school student in the head when I injured it.
I have been offered an option of using PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to help heal faster. This is a complete tear and I am having the tendon replaced from my own hamstring so there will be surgery, the PRP is not the treatment itself. The cost is $200 out of pocket (not a whole lot, but enough to make me think about it).
My question is, is it worth it? Has anyone had experience with this?

I can't speak from personal experience, but I did see a documentary about some athletes that had what they considered faster and better recoveries after surgery using PRP. According to the medical journals, it's too early to tell if it's effective, but the results have been promising. Good luck with the surgery and wishing you speedy healing!
