Info re: Phone scam

THIS IS A SCAM : Just recieved a call from a man who told me he was calling from Windows Technical Care and that after a scan of my locality they had discovered warnings and error messages being generated by my computer.

He told me that I should switch on my PC and he would guide me through the procedure to enable him to connect with my PC and then to correct these errors (Yeah cos I am as dumb as a post):grumble:

I refused and asked him for a website address he gave me wtcare.com which appears to be a legit company. So I googled Windows Technical Care Scams and hey presto loads of info.

At best they are trying to correct things that aren't wrong or install fake viruses and charge you to "fix" them. At worst they are trying to gain access to your PC so they can get bank details, passwords, credit card numbers etc. Just thought I would share this in case anyone else gets any calls. Sorry it is not really chit chat fun and games but not sure where esle to post
