When is it best to exercise?

I like to do a bit of exercise everyday. I work a full-time deskjob at the moment til I go back to university. Will exercise be as effective if I do it before I have dinner as it will be after I have dinner?

Maybe that's a stupid question but I'm just looking to make sure.

Most people feel very uncomfortable working out with full stomach. I don't know what are your dinner habits but if it was me, I'd workout before dinner. Especially if I'm on a tight schedule in terms of sleep as well. Sleeping after workout never works for me.

The best/most effective time to exercise is whenever you can fit it in and will do it consistently.

The best time to exercise is the time that fits into your schedule and that you will stick to for the long run! I'm a night owl, I could never stick to morning exercise classes for more than a week or two before burning out. Now I exercise in the evening, after dinner...some of my group classes go from 8 - 10 pm, but you know what? I've stuck to this routine for a year and a half now and am still going strong.

I'm sure that physiologically there is benefit to exercising earlier, but you don't get those benefits if you don't stick to it.

Whenever you're motivated to do it, do it! Though as the last poster mentioned, too soon after eating will possibly have unpleasant results.

If you're worried about exercising on a full stomach, wait a half hour and then get going. :-)

In the mornings if you can. The days fill up so quickly and before you know it........................ you've run out of time!

I fit my workout out in at night, I'm usually up and out the door by 6:30am not home til 7:30pm or so. add in dinner, two kids, baths and bedtime stories I'm usually starting out at 9-10pm and go for hr or so. Six days a week. Tried mornings they just dont work for me. I'm consistant at night. working for me down 4 notches in my belt :)
I think it's best that as long as you get it in your doing it right.

I agree with the consensus. The best time is the time that fits very nicely in your day. The reason being that then you are more likely to continue with your exercise.
