I am a 50 year old women, who just recently started monitoring her eating habits and exercise on MFP. I am overweight. I work out six times a week. So exercise is not the problem here. My eating habits need to be adjusted. I have done everything, you name it from surgery, to WW, Jenny Craig, etc. I am under a lot of stress with being a mom to two kids, and caregiver to my parents. My marriage is a wreck. I wake up every morning with aches and pains. Taking Ibuprofren ia a very common occurance. Exercise relieves the stress, but I must cope with the pain that is associated with it. Stress eating is an issue. I started monitoring my dietary habits on MFP last week, when my hair dresser told me about. I find it a lot easier to use then a lot of other programs that are out there. I find that my carbs are way out of balance. I didn't realize how many carbs I eat in one day. My overall goal is to lose 25 pounds. Currently I should be eating approximately 1200 calories and work out an hour day (roughly 300 calories per session @ six sessions a week) It doesn't seem that much to lose, however, I am lucky to lose a pound a month. Did I mention I am going through menopause? When it rains, it pours. I am looking for some motivation, and support from this group. I know I can do this, but I need help and guidance along the way. Thanks for listening. M-

I'll send you a friend request. Make sure you eat those exercise calories back. That will give you a net of 1,500 calories a day (although, personally, and this is just me, I think you should bump it to 1,400 a day, and then eat back the exercise calories, giving you a net of 1,700 a day).
I'm a stress eater too. Went through a divorce 4 years ago. I have 2 kids. Don't have the parent issue.
You can do this. Glad you are exercising. That's a huge part of feeling better.0 -
Tip - since you're exercising, you probably ought to shoot for somewhere around 1500-1600 calories per day, or 1200 net. This will keep your energy and performance levels up while you're burning through fat. If there's one sure fire way to burn out, it's taking in too few calories for an extended period of time. :flowerforyou:0

Just take it one day at a time and one step at a time. I didn't find myself overweight overnight and it's not going to fall off instantly just because I stay within my calories for a week. I love carbs too and find that very hard to manage at times but I usually do. Hang in there and know that MFP works. Best of luck!
