Would you have a sneak "pre run" before your race?

Hello all!
I signed up to a Cheddar 10k run, never run my whole life and I am training for it, but where I live is completely flat so I thought I would drive to the Quantock Hill as the terrine is quite similar to Cheddar Gorge.
OMG, I couldn't even jog uphill, but I am going to keep at it, then my boyfriend told me to run the route before the race so I know what I am expecting.
Isn't this cheating? Has anyone done this? To run the route before the race?
Just want to know what everyone think? Thanks.

I would call it good preparation. If it is possible I would do it.
I recently ran my first 5k and was happy that the area I train is much more hilly than the course. Made for a pretty cool PB.0 -
Not cheating at all, that's preparation!!0

I've never done running races before but I can't see why this would be cheating; competitors in showjumping, for example, are allowed to go and look at the course beforehand so they can plan the best route round. Its not like the route of the race is secret! I say go for it, seems like a good idea.0

Unless the rules prohibit it, it is not cheating. Absolutely, if you are used to flatland running, you need to start working on the incline... and do it as regularly as possible. You really need to do this since it really is harder to do and you need to be able to build up to it... Don't just do it once... Do it several times... It is part of your training.0

Thanks guys, looks like I was the only "wired" one! lol
Will carry one training and go and run the route couple weeks before the race, really don't fancy to be the last to cross the line, my tactic is to find the slowest person, then I will just be a little bit ahead of him/her!!! lol
Thanks again!0
