I have a new "Ultimate" goal!

This may sound crazy to some but I just found out about something that would definitely fit onto my bucket list but it will be requiring some heavy duty fitness. I want to enter a Tough Mudder competition! It is a 10-12 mile long killer obstacle course/race designed by British Special Forces. It has brutal obstacles that include immersion in ice water, crawling through barbed wire, and a field of electrified wires among other things. I know it sounds insane but I have always gotten a huge charge out of being "tough" and when I see this it just seems like something I would want to look at and say "Yep...I did that!". I've never run before in my life but I have actually decided to try once I drop some more weight and by God I'm going to start training for this. So this is my ultimate goal for when I get in shape. I want to be a Tough Mudder!

Awesome! I was hoping to do one this year too, but now I am going to Korea....gotta make choices :-)
If anyone wants to find a race like this (or any race) in their area, you can go to www.trifind.com and select your state and what month you want to look at. Go team!0 -
it looks so fun0

This is actually a whole catagory of races now, including the Tough Mudder, the Warrior Dash, the Spartan Race Challenge and the Run for Your Lives Zombie Infested 5K just to name a few of the more popular. You're not crazy, but be prepared for the challenge of a lifetime. I've done Run for Your Lives and I'm considering a Warrior Dash in September.
Many of them are shorter than a full length Tough Mudder, so there are interminent challenges you can give yourself. A good first step might be to do Couch to 5K (C25K) and enter a 5K road race. Road races are fun and can give you some idea of what "racing" is like before your do an adventure race. Plus being able to run a 5K is definetely the first step to dong any of this.0 -
That is awesome !!!!!! I was planning on training for a 5K before I got hurt. Once I'm healed it's on!0

Yes definitely I know doing road races will be an important step. Once I can run I'll get started0
