...that the closer you get to your goal, the less you seem to crave sweets and junk food? I'm starting to pass up chips, candy, etc for healthier options. Not only is it because I want to get to my goal faster, but they also seem less appetizing. It used to be a reflex to grab it and say thank you if its offered. Now, it seems like that impulse is vanishing. Its a neat feeling. Its been some time since checking food labels became second nature... and looking at most of them is kind of similar to looking at a horror film. I think that helps a lot too.
Anyone else have similar experiences?

Yep, I don't even get tempted anymore by the sweets/ desserts. My family/ friends don't even ask if I want them anymore, or else I get the... well I know you won't eat this...
It doesn't taste good and I feel yucky if I do eat it, so why bother??
Funny about thinking about it as looking at a horror film! :noway:0 -
Yes, I'm getting to that point too! The only bad thing that really still tastes good to me is pizza, my vice :blushing: Nothing really "junky" tastes good enough for me to even bother with it anymore.
Last weekend we were shopping at Old Navy and they were giving out single Hostess chocolate cupcakes and I opened mine, took a bite, and handed it over to my husband - it was way too salty! The DH is always teasing me saying that I think everything is too salty now haha.0 -

My DH calls me the sodium police! :laugh:0 -
Yesterday everyone from work was going to eat chinese, they asked me if I was going and I easily said no thank you. The thought of all that salt in the food. Everything seems so salty now.0

I can't say I am to the point with all junk food anymore (I wish) but I have noticed some things tasting funny. I didn't really peice it together that it just doesn't taste good anymore because of my change in lifestyle, I thought there was something wrong it the food, lol.
A couple weeks ago we had taco bell for dinner and I thought my nachos tasted funny but my bf said they tasted fine, and a couple weeks before that I made him stop and get me a pepsi and M & M's (my favorite) but those tasted funny too.
The bad part is, I ate them anyway because, well....I don't know why. I guess my craving for them was still the same as always, and I was hoping with each bite they would taste like I remembered:laugh:0 -

I do find it easier to pass up things like candy, and it is getting easier to say no. It's almost like I don't even have to think about it, 'No thanks" automatically comes out of my mouth. Working in a restaurant, it's really tough to try to eat healthy! Everyone used to always ask me "Want to share a pizza?" Now, hardly anyone asks me.
My boss brought in two huge bags of candy for Halloween for guests to take, and he was joking saying "I'm going to do pocket checks later, you guys better not eat all the candy!" I was thinking "I don't even want that at all...!" Something about that 'fake' sugar taste, just doesn't appeal to me.0 -
Totally agree. I will say that I do still like to have a handful of goldfish or split a funnel cake at the fair. There are some foods that I just can't give up...but it only once a month or so in moderation. I no longer crave sweets at all. I also no longer crave biscuits (even the thought of eating them makes me sick, I guess it's because they're so dense). The candy bowl up at our office managers desk only gets visited by me once or twice a month and it's when there are things like sweet tarts, nerds, or jolly ranchers....no more chocolate for me. :bigsmile:0

Fast food just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I still like some sweets but some of it just doesn't taste as good as it used to. I don't miss pop at all. My son will go across the street to the convenience store and ask me if I want anything. I'll think about it and decide no. I just don't have the desire for the junk food any more. How cool is that!0

Yeah, I think once you give something up for a long time, you stop craving it. When I was about eleven I decided not to have candy again (except for chocolate, lol) and haven't had it since. I wouldn't touch it even if it was in front of my nose.
At around the same age, I decided never to eat fast food or fries again. I broke that one a few times throughout the years but it never came as a craving. I would literally just eat half the burger, wrap it back up and throw it in the trash.
If ONLY I had decided as a kid to quit eating granola bars and chocolate as well. I wouldn't be having the weight problems I'm having now :grumble:0 -
The worst thing that happened to me was eating ice cream for the first time in 5 months and finding out it didn't move my blood sugar a point. That put a BIG temptation back into my life.0
