Hey guys, i went through 8 pages looking for an answer before i posted. I have had my FT7 for a year now without problems. i joined a gym and my first day there i had no problems with the HRM but every other time it stops working. it keeps telling me to check the transmitter. there is no "low battery" icon showing. some of the machines connect to polar HRMs. in the manual it gives instructions on what to do with machine interference but i must be stupid because i dont understand. any advice?

It could be that there are other people with HRMs that is interfering with yours. I remember reading that if another person was next to you with one that it could mess with the feed, same with there being too many cell phones and Ipods everywhere, too many possibilities to mess with your signal. I had problems at the gym with mine more than anywhere else.

If you've been using it a year, my guess is that the battery in the transmitter itself (what you snap to the chest strap) needs to be replaced. You wouldn't get a low battery notification for the transmitter.

Take it to a battery store; they can replace it for under $5.

    3 things:
Wash the strap in the machine with detergent only.. no fabric softener and hang dry.

Make sure the connectors on the back are wet enough

Make sure the strap is tight enough.

If those three don't fix it, then replace the battery in the transmitter.
