work out calories

Hello all,
I lost some weight, but it seems to have slowed a little (probably partially my fault...maybe even a little gain in muscle.)
Anyways, I notice that when strength training, calories are not calculated (i saw this is for various reasons). Anyways, I was worried that since I am mostly sedentary (unemployed right now, desk job, blah blah blah) during the day, my calories for the day are VERY low. When i do go for a run I eat more, as it is easily calculated on the treadmill and this site. However, when I do go in for strength, I don't factor this in and eat the normal amount of food, or i start thinking about this and eat a little bit of peanut butter.
My main concern is that I am putting myself at risk eating too few calories those days because I am not calculating the calories burned during and putting myself in "starvation mode". Is there a way I can calculate this, such as an app? a formula? etc.
Thanks,
R
