Help with macros?

I am confused about these macros. At least I think that's what they're called. ;) What should mine be set at? I'm a 22 year old female, 5'10, starting weight 270, current weight 246. I found that with the automatic settings, I was almost always over on protein and under on carbs and fat. Is there some magic setting that will help weight loss or should I not worry about it and just focus on calories? Thanks!!!

Over on protein is fine, alot of people including me use 40%carbs,30% protein, 30% fat, but it also depends on your goals. There is no magic number for weight loss, some macros are set up to build more muscle, others not.

Same here - 40/30/30. I think the MFP defaults are far too low on protein.

I just researched the shiz outta this and set mine manually to 40/30/30. Did my diary for tomorrow and about 17 over on protein which is fine as I will be lifting so it's all good. I understand it's ok to float over fats as well if the overage is good fats from fish, nuts, olive oil....

Okay, maybe I'll set mine to 40/30/30 and see what happens! I'm not necessarily trying to build a ton of muscle, just getting healthy, which for me means losing weight and at least maintaining muscle...I've been lifting 2-4 times per week and do cardio 6 days per week, so maybe 40/30/30 will be my perfect ratio!

Exactly, trying to retain muscle here and strengthen while I lose. I would love to build muscle as well but in case ya didn't know, that's nearly impossible for a woman eating at a calorie deficit. It takes an excess if cals to do that and an incredible amount of lifting!

Well, hopefully a little something will happen for me in the world of lifting, because I have somehow ended up with strong legs, an okay core, and the arms of a 7 year old girl! I would love to feel all buff and go hang out with the guys in the "real" weight room, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to lift the bar...ha. So for now I'll stay in the girly weightlifting area, keep the protein at a reasonable level and work on keeping the carbs down...those things are sneaky!
